Chicago Planning a Chilly Reception for Obama Election Night!!!!!

Obama Election Night Party Likely In Grant Park
ReportingJay Levine

CHICAGO (CBS) ― It's not a done deal yet, but all indications are that campaign officials are leaning toward Hutchinson Field on the south end of Grant Park as the site of their election night party. The field is home to softball diamonds, the popular summer Lollapalooza music festival and was the site of the mass Pope John Paul held in Chicago nearly 30 years ago. If Grant Park is chosen as the venue, it would not be the first big outdoor event for Obama. He announced his presidential run outside the old state capitol in Springfield on a very cold day last February and gave his nomination acceptance speech at Denver's Mile High Stadium. CBS 2 first reported last month that Grant Park was on Obama campaign officials' shortlist. They tentatively decided on it late last week. The negotiations with the city and park district have begun. Security arrangements are reportedly starting to take shape, and Mayor Richard M. Daley reportedly said it was a great idea. The record low for Nov. 4 in Chicago is 15 degrees. CBS 2 Chief Correspondent Jay Levine asked Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce President Jerry Roper what he anticipated for the night. "Weather's never a problem Chicago. We know how to handle it," Roper said. "And there'll be a lot of warmth that night, if indeed it does take place in Grant Park." Roper added that the event would be a "huge economic boost for our city." "People have been following Barack Obama around the world, and the world will have their eyes on Chicago that evening," Roper said. "With the Pope's visit from 30 years ago, to Lollapalooza, this city knows how to handle big events. … We're prepared."

The Chicago Blizzard of 1967
Winter in Chicago has never been easy, but this one was a record-setter.

At least some enjoyed the snow of the 1967 blizzard. Twenty-three inches of snow, the largest single snowfall in Chicago history, covered the city and suburbs. Children frolic among buried cars in the Edgewater neighborhood, on Chicago's North Side. (Tribune archive photo)

Probably some of you remember hearing how Sarah Palin had concealed her pregnancy from her parents, friends, and even her own children until she was well into her third trimester. It has been reported that Palin kept her pregnancy a secret because she was afraid of being criticized as a pregnant governor. Sure, it seemed strange that she would keep the pregnancy a secret from her own parents and children for that reason, but we all accepted it anyway. Well, hold on to your hats.

It turns out that Sarah found out from her doctor that she was having a Downs Syndrome child after having a prenatal screening for birth defects done; something that many opponents of abortion actually choose not to do. This was around the fifteenth week of her pregnancy, and the results left her torn as to whether she should do what over 90% of people do in the same situation: abort the child.

According to someone who counts herself as a close friend and confidant of Palin, Sarah was considering aborting the fetus throughout her second trimester and this is why she kept the pregnancy a secret from even those closest to her. Of course the implications of this are staggering. First, a woman who claims to staunchly oppose abortion was seriously considering getting the procedure done for her self. Second, a person who claims to be an advocate for special needs children was considering aborting a child just because he had Downs Syndrome. Sure, the vast majority of people who learn through prenatal screening that they are pregnant with a Downs Syndrome child choose to abort it, but does that make it right? And why was it okay for her to even consider having an abortion when she claims to be adamantly opposed to it?

Quite a ‘hockey mom’, huh?

What this "startling" revelation has to do with the "Chicago Planning a Chilly Reception for Obama Election Night!!!!!" article I have no idea. I suspect you just thought you had to deliver this monumental "news". Some "friend" that would tell such a tale. She must be a frenemy. Use your head. Many conditions are now treatable in the womb. Many 44 year old women would get the prenatal tests for this reason. A 15 week fetus would require an immediate abortion. Even then it would be past time for a safe procedure. Why would she wait??? I accept her honest explaination. That she and Todd wrestled with the implications in private, preparing themselves. Unlike you,I do not judge what is in someone else's heart. That truly is above my pay grade!!!
