Here is my 9/11 story. Even though I was 2000 miles away from Ground Zero, the effects of what happened on 9/11will be with me until the day I die.
On 9/13 I took a drive from Albuquerque, to Ribera, New Mexico, a small rural town in Northern New Mexico. I was going to visit some German friends who were here on “holiday”. This is a 100 mile drive, which I have made often.
A few miles from my destination, I came upon a New Mexico “down pour” and slowed down, because of the limited visibility. The driver behind me didn’t slow down, hitting me and making my vehicle roll 3 times. I broke all my ribs, both lungs were collapsed, I broke my left foot, my left arm was crushed, shattering my elbow, and I had a serious closed head injury. If it weren’t for my “Guardian Angel”, who was an EMT getting off work; I wouldn’t be here to type these words. It was he who saved my life, by puncturing my lungs on site to get me breathing again. I can’t remember any of this or what happened for the next 2 weeks as I was in a coma.
You are probably asking yourself what does this have to do with 9/11. I doubt many people have thought of this. My accident caused me to be a “Trauma 1 “. But because of 9/11, no airplanes or helicopters were allowed to fly, including “Med-Evac” flights. I should have been flown to Albuquerque, where the only Trauma 1 hospital was at the time. But instead I had to wait for an Ambulance to come from Santa Fe, NM a good 40 minute drive…..each way. Only to be brought to a “Trauma 3” hospital in Santa Fe. This hospital wasn’t really equipped to really handle all my injuries.
I often wonder how many others in our Country went through a similar ordeal? I’m sure there are 100’s if not thousands.
Every time I slur my speech, or have to type one handed (due to damage to my left arm) do I blame my Government for restricting these flights? No I don’t, as they had no choice. When the dust settled I blame the spineless creatures who attacked our country.
So when November rolls around, think about who you want in charge, if God forbid we are attacked again.

Thank you for sharing this Don.
Some folks think, that because they were not at the sites of these slaughters, that 9/11 doesn't effect them as much as others, at the heart of those despicable attacks. They forget what it was doing to our financial markets, which effects every last one of us "Our American Economy" The Hub-
Heart of the "World's Economy" It isn't Just AMERICANS, that were attacked that awful unforgettable Day. Civilization itself was under attack. That is just one more example of how when you attack one of us, you attack all of us.
